Today, I stopped by the @detroitphoenixcenter in the North End to see the amazing work they’re doing to help support our homeless youth. This organization centers those most impacted and gives them the opportunity to advocate for themselves, but we shouldn’t ever allow any child in America to suffer the injustice that is homelessness. This nation is too rich and has been blessed with an abundance of resources to allow this to go on. Until we dignify all of America with the basic essentials, free from the shackles of corporate profits, poverty, and racism, America will always have unfinished business. “If America does not use her vast resources of wealth to end poverty and make it possible for all of God’s children to have the basic necessities of life, she, too, will go to hell.” Beyond quoting the late Reverend, what’re we doing in our deeds to embody those words? That is the ultimate measure of our commitment to Greater Justice.

In Michigan, you can bring firearms into our Capitol building but cannot bring signs. The Capitol Commission is meeting right now - I’ve joined many in calling them to ban firearms.
Don’t tell me the response to this moment isn’t Black and White (supremacy).
